Sparkling Spring Sippin'
Put away those winter blues and start thinking about all things bright and bubbly. Spring officially hops to life on March 20th, so now is the perfect time to pop the cork and celebrate the season with sparkling spring cocktails. Read on for delicious libations to get you in the springtime mood!
Spring Sangria
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Semi-Seco Sparkling
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of chilled sparkling wine
1 can of chilled lemon-lime soda
1 lemon, sliced
1 lime, sliced
1 orange, sliced
1 pint of raspberries
DIRECTIONS:
Pour soda, sparkling wine and fruit into a large pitcher and stir well.
Strawberry Shortcake
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Semi-Seco Sparkling
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of chilled sparkling wine
4 shots of orange-flavored liqueur
4 teaspoons honey (or substitute with your favorite sweetener)
1 lemon, sliced
2 cups of fresh strawberries, hulled and cut into bit-sized pieces
1 pint of raspberries
DIRECTIONS:
Pour liqueur, sparkling wine, honey and fruit into a large pitcher and stir well.
Sparkling Lemonade
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Brut Sparkling
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup sugar (or substitute with your favorite sweetener)
1 cup water
8 cups cold water
1 cup freshly-squeezed lemon juice
1 bottle of chilled sparkling wine
1 lemon, sliced
1 lemon for garnish
DIRECTIONS:
Make a simple syrup by adding sugar and 1 cup water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil over low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and set aside. Pour cold water, lemon juice, lemon slices and simple syrup into a large pitcher and stir well. Pour lemonade into glasses, filling about 1/2 to 2/3 the way full. Top off each glass with sparkling wine and garnish with curls of lemon peel or additional slices of lemon.
Tickled Pink
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Rosé Sparkling Wine
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of chilled Rosé sparkling wine
Raspberry liqueur
1 pint of raspberries
Fresh mint and slices of lemon for garnish (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Fill each glass with 1 tbsp of raspberry liqueur. Top with Rosé sparkling wine and garnish with skewers of fresh raspberries, a lemon slice and a sprig of mint.
Orange Dream
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Rosé Sparkling Wine & Dusk 2016 Pinot Gris
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of chilled sparkling wine
4 cups of white wine
1/2 cup orange juice or Triple Sec (or other orange liqueur)
1/4 cup of agave nectar (or substitute with your favorite sweetener)
1 orange, sliced
DIRECTIONS:
Put 1 sliced orange, 4 cups of white wine, 1/2 cup of orange juice or orange liqueur and 1/4 cup of sweetener into a pitcher and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. Right before serving, add 1 bottle of sparkling wine and pour into chilled glasses.
Spring Frosé
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Rosé Sparkling Wine
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle Rosé sparkling wine
1/2 cup sugar (or substitute with your favorite sweetener)
1/2 cup water
1 cup strawberries (hulled and sliced, plus extra for garnish)
1/3 cup vodka
1/2 lemon (juiced)
DIRECTIONS:
Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Add more ice for a thicker consistency, if preferred.
Green Thumb
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Brut Sparkling
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of chilled sparkling wine
1/2 cup sugar (or substitute with your favorite sweetener)
1/2 cup water
Juice from 1 lemon
2 plums
6 Thyme sprigs (plus additional sprigs for garnish)
DIRECTIONS:
Make a thyme simple syrup by adding thyme sprigs, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil over low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and set aside. Peel and chop 1 1/2 plums and muddle with the simple syrup and lemon juice. Shake with ice in a cocktail shaker and pour an even amount over crushed ice in glasses. Top off each glass with sparkling wine and garnish with extra plum slices and thyme sprigs.
Grapefruit Crush
TRY IT WITH: le Cadeau Semi-Seco Sparkling or le Cadeau Rosé Sparkling Wine
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of chilled sparkling wine
1 tbsp Campari or lime juice
1 ruby red grapefruit, plus additional slices as garnish (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Juice 1 ruby red grapefruit and mix with 1 tbsp of Campari or lime juice. Pour an even amount into glasses and top with sparkling wine. Serve with slices of grapefruit as garnish.
