Overview
Our Somersville Red Meritage is a blend of Bordeaux grape varietals. This style of winemaking is well-known and sought after. We blended Cab from Suisun Valley and Lodi and finished with a soupçon of Merlot.
This Red Meritage was partially aged in French and American oak barrels. The blend has a beautifully rich color with dark fruits like black currant, blueberry and blackberry followed by mature characters of black pepper, prune, licorice and cedar. The toasted oak bursts in the finish. Aromas develop in the attack, making this wine bright and voluptuous. Cigar box, vanilla and cranberry float on top of layered, silky tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are a perfect pair in this powerhouse wine, which is ready to enjoy now and for several years.
